Research lecture by Melda Janse (Industrial Design Engineering)
location: Media room: 1A-01, faculty of Industrial Design Engineering
On Thursday, April 5, the Research Lecture will be given by Melda Janse (Industrial Design Engineering), the title of her lecture is 'Preferences of adolescent girls for an outdoor (sports) meeting point'
Summary:
A large percentage of adolescents in the Netherlands (40% in 2007-2009) does not achieve the public health guidelines of a minimum of 60 minutes of moderate physical activity per day.
Especially girls seem to be less interested to participate - both in inside and outside activities. Looking at the public space, boys have access to football fields and skate ramps - but the majority of girls stay away from those. So, what do adolescent girls like in an outdoor (sports) meeting point?
Biography:
Melda Janse is an SPD graduate at VelopA-Omniplay BV who is investigating this question for her graduation project. For her, participation in sports and dancing has always been something that she has enjoyed – and still does - which makes her more curious to understand why teenage girls lack this motivation and what VelopA-Omniplay can do to help change that.
The next lecture will be given on Thursday, April 12.
The presenter will be announced later.
