Technology Transformation
New opportunities for sustainability are gained when design engineering is linked with technological research in fields such as ICT, new materials and production processes, robotics, etc. We study how these technologies can transform, and be transformed in, the product design process. Also, we develop tools and methods to anticipate and simulate the relationships between technology, product concepts, usage and acceptation, and sustainability. Encompassing five ’dimensions of design engineering research’, our research scope ranges from singular product aspects to full systems of multiple products, with all levels in between, so that technological progress can be sustainably embedded in society.
