Adrian van Hooydonk

xhtmlc  Adrian van Hooydonk is the Design Director of the BMW Group in Munich and one of the most engaging Designers of our times. Born in the Netherlands, van Hooydonk studied at Delft Polytechnic University in Holland and later at the Art Center Europe in Vevey, Switzerland, from which he graduated in 1992. In between his studies he worked as a freelance industrial designer for several clients in the Netherlands. After graduating from Art Center, van Hooydonk joined BMW as a car designer.

 

Lowie Vermeersch

Born in Kortrijk (Belgium) on May 9, 1974, Lowie Vermeersch started his study in 1992, in Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. In 1997, urged by his passion for Italian car design and Pininfarina in particular, he obtained an internship at Pininfarina while he developed his graduation project. With this project he graduated in 1998 as Master of Science in Industrial Design Engineering with first class honours. Immediately after his graduation he joined Pininfarina. In July 2005 Vermeersch became Chief Designer, leading one of the three design teams at Pininfarina. On August 1, 2007 he was appointed Design Director.

 

Fedde Talsma

Fedde Talsma studied Industrial Design Engineering at the Technical University in Delft. After graduating in 1980 he worked as a freelance designer on domestic appliances like vacuum cleaners and heaters, industrial machines and large motor yachts. In 1983 after winning a design competition organised by the Dutch magazine Auto Select and sponsored by Volvo, he joint Volvo as a designer at the Volvo design studio in Holland. In 1998 he started working in the main Volvo design studio in Gothenburg. Since 2005 Talsma is appointed as Exterior Chief Designer. He is responsible for the exterior design of all Volvo production cars.

Wouter Kets

xhtmlc  Wouter Kets was born in 1974 in Hengelo. After high school he studied Industrial Design Engineering in Delft. During his study, Kets participated in some design competitions and performed well. In 2000 he graduated with a specialization in Automotive Design and in 2001 Kets started working for Audi as an interior designer. Here he worked on several projects while in the meantime he was also mentor for internships. He combined this with a job as guest speaker at the TU Delft.

 

Sarkis Benliyan

Born in Amsterdam in 1973, Sarkis started his studies at the TU Delft in 1992. During his studies he already had a passion for 2-wheeled vehicles which cumulated in his diploma project at the BMW motorcycle design department. After his graduation at the TU Delft he continued his studies at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London further exploring motorcycle/vehicle design. During his studies at the RCA he was granted the Giugiaro award for innovation for his work. Whilst graduating in 2001, he was offered a job in the smart design team, Germany, where he worked for 4 years contributing to both advanced- as well as production projects. After this period Sarkis changed to Mercedes-Benz, first in the Advanced Design team and nowadays in the interior design team, contributing to both future Mercedes and smart production models.


 

Ramon Ginah

xhtmlc  Ramon Ginah (1974) graduated in 2000 as an industrial designer with a Master degree in Automotive Design. After this, Ginah started working for respectively Donkertvoort, Zagato and in the FIAT group for FIAT and Alfa-Romeo. Nowadays Ginah is responsible for the interior design of all Alfa Romeo models.

 

Doeke de Walle

Doeke de Walle (1978) is since 2006 Senior Transportation Designer at Pininfarina. De Walle graduated in November 2005 as Industrial Designer at the TU Delft. During his study De Walle already worked as free lance designer. Also, he participated in design competitions. De Walle won first prize in the Backpack Design Competition of the TU Delft. He also won the Auto Telegraaf Design competition and was second in the moto-AutoRai 73 Design Competition. In 2006 De Walle started working for Pininfarina.

 

Bart van Lotringen

Bart van Lotringen (1964) graduated in 1987 as Industrial Designer at the TU Delft. After his graduation in Delft, Van Lotringen received a Master's degree in Transportation Design at the Royal College of Art in London. Van Lotringen worked a long period for Volvo Car BV. After a short trip to Johsons Control Design Europe, Van Lotringen started working for DAF Trucks Netherlands in 2000. Van Lotringen is Design Director at DAF Since 2002. He won the Paccar Innovation Award in 2007.

 

Bart Janssen Groesbeek

xhtmlc  Bart Janssen Groesbeek is Senior Designer at Ducati. After he graduated at the TU Delft as Industrial Designer, Janssen Groesbeek went to the Royal Collage of Art to study a Master of Arts in Transportation Design. After graduating, he started working for Global Design (now GK Design Europe) at advanced design studies and contributed to the design of different Yamaha models. Nowadays Janssen Groesbeek is employed as Senior Designer and works at future Ducati models.

Joris Luyendijk

Joris Luyendijk (1971) studied various non-exact sciences at the University of Amsterdam, Kansas and Cairo. He wrote three books, Een Man Slaat Soms Zijn Vrouw, Een Tipje van de Sluier and Het Zijn Net Mensen. This last book is about his work as Middle East correspondent and recently it became available in Hungarian. Luyendijk presented the Dutch TV-programs Zomergasten and Wintergasten. Today he writes a series of articles on electric cars and new journalism in NRC Handelsblad. Luyendijk lives in Amsterdam.

Stephen Bayley

Stephen Bayley is one of the world’s best-known authorities on design, architecture and popular culture. Author, critic, columnist, curator, broadcaster and consultant, he was the founding director of London’s unique Design Museum. For nearly thirty years he has been an outspoken commentator – in newspapers, on radio and television - on all matters concerning art in everyday life. In the same period his books and articles have shaped people’s perception of “design”.
