Biography

I (Amsterdam, 1971) graduated in Literature, partly studied Musicology, and finished the post-graduate Jan van Eyck academie. After a few years of working as videoartist/ -editor/ -teacher, I did my PhD on emotion- and filmgenre attribution to animated movements. This was defended in 2007, supervised by prof. Ed Tan, and performed at Cultural Studies dept. of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and at Industrial Design dept. of the TU Delft. Meanwhile I worked as a researcher/ participant at the Netherlands Institute of Animation Film in Tilburg. After my PhD, I obtained an NWO Rubicon grant for postdoctoral research on abstract emotion expressions. I performed this research at the Swiss Centre for Affective Sciences of prof. Klaus Scherer in Geneva and at the Cognitive Psychology dept. of prof. Rolf Zwaan in Rotterdam. Since 2009 I happily work as an assistant profession at the Industrial Design dept. of the TU Delft. My latest big thing the FES granted interdisciplinary G-Motiv research project.
