Research at Computer Aided Design

Design Support

Ubiquitous information processing can be integrated not only into portable and hand-held electronic devices, but also into home and office appliances, garments, and personal accessories. Wireless communication of sensors enables obtaining information about users and ambient environment in various contexts. The research investigates how such functional features can be exploited in a completely new platform of information processing for design support. The subprogram splits into three interconnected research projects. In the order of mention, those aim at exploration, innovation and instruction.

The research project Adaptation of ubiquitous technologies focuses on monitoring the emergence and evolution of relevant technologies, assesses them from the aspects of design support and applications in new products and service solutions.

The research project entitled Tools for sustainable solutions is innovation, development and application oriented, and aims at research knowledge directly useful for practical applications in the fields of both ecological and social sustainability.

The research project Ubiquitous design learning focuses on the application of ubiquitous technologies in industrial design engineering education.
