Biography
After High School (HBS-B) I eventually graduated at the department of Industrial Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In the same year I started my own design company and still work until today as freelance advisor in the fields of design and architecture.
In 1985 I started working part time at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology as 'Vormstudie' tutor. I was appointed Associate Professor in 2008. I am course manager and developer of the present courses 'Design and Experience', 'Memetic Product Design", "Zen and the art of Design', 'Metropolis', ' Automotive 3D' and 'Design contests and workshops'.
I founded the BlueDot student foundation (www.blue.tudelft.nl), I am a member of the scientific committee of UNIC (Urban Network for Innovation in Ceramics Association). I am a member of ICOM (International Council of Museums). I was the initiator of the 'The Essence of COOL' symposium, held in Delft in March 2012. I am a member of the daily management of the Board of Examiners at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.
Personal
I like art house movies, classical music (Bach, G.F. Händel, Scriabin) and modern ballet (Nederlands Dans Theater). I am a 'design' collector, collecting industrial design objects both for the department as well as for my own collection. I love to go out biking (mountain bike). I like to cook for friends.
