Biography

Marijke Melles is assistant professor at the department of Applied Ergonomics and Design and coordinator of the Master specialisation Medisign.

In 1996 she graduated as an industrial designer at the Delft University of Technology. After a year of freelancing, she started working as a designer at Lost Boys Interactive, a multimedia company in Amsterdam. Here she worked on various projects related to multimedia productions and web design. In 2001 she started as a PhD student at the department of Human Information and Communication Design. Topic of her research was to envision how the non-technical tasks and skills of intensive care nurses could be enhanced by means of future technology, in a way that fits their natural working methods. This research was in cooperation with the University Medical Center Groningen.
